Question Seeking comfort with the herpes coaster. Please help!

Hi,

On July 3rd I had a little bit to drink and had unprotected sex with a lady friend of mine. She "forgot" to tell me that she was positive for genital Herpes. I was warned by some friends a few days later and then i questioned her about it. She admitted that she has been positive for 4 months. She takes daily Valtrex and was not having an outbreak. She had unprotected sex with her ex-bf many times since her diagnosis and he never contracted it from her.

12 days post exposure i went for testing for all STD's and STI's. I tested positive for chlamydia and am now on medication for it. But I tested negative for Herpes
(Blood Test)
HPV I - .21 (<91)
HPV II - .07 (<91)

The doctor at the clinic said that i shouldn't worry about anything, She had never seen readings that low. I have not had any symptoms at all. No pain, no skin abnormalities, no lymph node pain, no itching, no burning, no bumps, no flu symptoms, no redness. Nothing. It has now been almost 3 weeks and still nothing.

1) What are my chances of contracting HPV?
2) Should i find comfot in my test results?
3) Should i get retested every month?

Can somebody please help and give some answers.

Hi Gazeebo,

Well, it sounds positive. Sorry to hear that you had chlamydia though.

You might be safe from the herpes this time. But, I would suggest getting another blood test in about 6 months. If everything is still clear, you can feel lucky.

My suggestion: Don't have sex with anyone you are not married too.

That's the best way to increase your changes of avoiding all STDs.

Think of all the worry and suffering you are going through - Is it worth it?

Thank you.

yesterday my lmyph nodes were on fire.today they are okay. I'm not really sure if that has somethign to do with the chlamydia? i finished the medication on sunday (today is now tuesday).

today i noticed a small bump at the base of my penis, directly in the middle. it's painless. it's very low(like a man hole cover on a street) and i found a few others in my pubic area. i've had them before, i think that they are ingrown hairs. but like i said, they are painless. they feel like a raise in the skin. and the skin is darkened. (i myself am african american) Should I be worried them?

no pain. no itching. no opened skin.

if you finished your meds on Sunday, you may want to go back to the doctor to get checked out. If the bumps you are feeling are new, then that is even more reason to go to the doctor.

If you see anything unusual at all down there, you need to get it checked under the circumstances.
